Volks Energie has commissioned a multi-location battery bank replacement project for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited at sites in Kargil and Leh.
The project was completed covering dismantling of existing valve regulated lead acid battery banks and erection, testing and commissioning of newly supplied nickel cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery banks across PGCIL installations. Ni-Cd batteries were selected for the project with an expected service life of over 15 years and to reduce risks associated with sudden failures in VRLA systems.
