Scatec JV signs offtakers for 255 MW solar project in South Africa

Scatec-led joint venture has secured offtakers for a 255 MW solar power project in South Africa.

The long-term power purchase agreements are expected to reduce merchant exposure and support access to longer-tenor and lower-cost debt financing, amid ongoing load-shedding, tariff volatility and elevated diesel generation costs in the country. The project will deploy bifacial modules mounted on single-axis trackers, supported by string inverters and advanced control systems. The plant has been designed as battery-ready, allowing for the future addition of two to four hours of storage capacity to shift output, reduce curtailment and participate in grid support services.
