Egypt has approved the implementation of four renewable energy projects by Kemet Industries Group, the executive arm of United Egypt Group for National Industries.
The approved portfolio comprises two solar plants in Bahariya Oasis with capacities of 320 MW and 400 MW. It also includes a 2,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage system in Nagaa Hammadi and a 2,000 MW solar plant in the same location. The projects are scheduled to be completed and commissioned in 2027. The developments include commitments to support domestic renewable energy industries. Furthermore, the cabinet authorised the execution of land usufruct agreements between Kemet Industries Group, the New and Renewable Energy Authority, and the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development.
