Kemet Industries, the execution arm of United Egypt Group for National Industries, has secured Egyptian Cabinet approval to develop 2.72 GW of solar capacity and 2 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity across two regions in the country.
The approved portfolio includes two solar photovoltaic (PV) plants aggregating 720 MW in Bahariya Oasis, comprising 320 MW and 400 MW facilities, and a 2,000 MW solar park in Naga Hammadi. In addition, a standalone 2,000 MWh BESS facility will be developed in Naga Hammadi to support grid stability and renewable energy integration. The projects will be implemented under land-use agreements with Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority and the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development, while power purchase agreements and grid connection agreements will be signed with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.
