Marubeni Corporation, Hyosung Heavy Industries and Skeleton Technologies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with for the joint development and commercialisation of Korea’s first next-generation e-static synchronous compensator (e-STATCOM) power grid stabilisation system.
Under the collaboration, Hyosung Heavy Industries will integrate its static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) technology with Skeleton Technologies’ supercapacitor-based high-voltage rack energy storage system to develop the solution. The e-STATCOM system is designed to provide reactive and active power compensation enabling rapid high-output power injection to manage voltage and frequency fluctuations associated with variable renewable energy generation and fast-changing loads such as artificial intelligence-driven data centres.
