PM inaugurates POWERGRID transmission projects worth Rs 36 billion in Rajasthan

The Prime Minister has inaugurated two Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) transmission projects in Rajasthan with a combined investment of over Rs 36 billion.

The projects are aimed at strengthening renewable energy evacuation from Rajasthan’s solar and wind zones and supporting transmission to demand centres. One project under the renewable energy zone (REZ) evacuation scheme Phase III Part-B1 is designed for 20 GW capacity and includes the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-III substation and the 765 kV double-circuit Bhadla-III-Sikar-II transmission line. The second project under the transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones Phase II Part-E, is designed for 8.1 GW and includes a 765 kV double-circuit Bhadla-II-Sikar-II second transmission line.
