Hunan approves scope and investment adjustments for three grid projects in China

The Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission (Hunan) has approved adjustments to three previously sanctioned high voltage transmission projects in Hunan province, including the 500 kV transmission line linked to the Miluo power plant. The Miluo project, originally approved in March 2025 along with other grid projects, included renovation and expansion of four 500 kV outgoing line bays and construction of a 117 km, 500 kV overhead transmission line, with an approved investment of CNY949 million. The project scope and investment are being revised following a route change to avoid a large area of farmland. The commission has also approved adjustments to the 500 kV Hunan Yuezhou power plant transmission line project, for which the earlier plan included a new 500 kV switching station, expansion of six 500 kV outgoing line bays and a 47.2 km, 500 kV overhead transmission line with approved investment of CNY476.31 million; revisions have been necessitated by a decision to have the 220 kV Jiaqiao substation bay expansion project implemented separately by State Grid Hunan Electric Power.
