J-Power offshore wind farm commences commercial operations in Kitakyushu

Electric Power Development Limited (J-POWER) has commenced commercial operations at the Kitakyushu Hibikinada Offshore Wind Farm in Japan. The project was awarded through a public tender by Kitakyushu City in February 2017. It is operated by a consortium that includes J-POWER. The project comprises 25 offshore wind turbines of 9.6 MW each, aggregating 220 MW, making it the country’s largest offshore wind power plant. The facility is expected to operate for 20 years and forms part of J-POWER’s broader carbon neutrality strategy under its BLUE MISSION 2050 initiative.
