Vestas signs MoC pact with Japan’s METI to support wind manufacturing

Vestas has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and separate memorandums of understanding with Nippon Express and DENZAI to support the expansion of wind power.

Under the agreement with the ministry, Vestas will work towards conducting final nacelle assembly in Japan by fiscal year 2029, subject to conditions including firm orders from offshore wind tenders. The company will also develop a roadmap for full nacelle assembly in the country by fiscal year 2039, depending on offshore wind market growth, order visibility and clearer long-term tender plans. The agreements with Nippon Express and DENZAI cover cooperation on logistics, operations and maintenance, lifting planning, crane deployment and wind facility construction.
