TNERC approves two solar-plus-battery projects at Rs 4.47 per unit

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has approved two solar-plus-battery energy storage projects in the state and adopted a tariff of Rs 4.47 per unit discovered through competitive bidding.

The projects were proposed by Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited and Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited, will be developed in Karur and Thiruvarur districts under the build, own and operate model. Each project will comprise a 15 MW solar photovoltaic plant integrated with a 15 MW/45 MWh battery energy storage system, enabling supply of 15 MW for three hours during peak demand periods. Evolve Green Energies Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder for the Karur project, while the Thiruvarur project was awarded to BVG India Limited. The tariff will remain valid for 25 years and will be payable only for the energy delivered to the grid.
