Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is set to establish electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in more than 15 locations across the city, including Anna Nagar, T Nagar, Nungambakkam, Adyar and Besant Nagar.
The stations will be integrated with parking facilities, with each site planned to have two charging points, enabling users to charge vehicles while parked. The initiative will be implemented under a public-private partnership model as part of a revamped smart parking management system, and work is expected to begin by the end of 2026.
