Egypt signs PPAs for 5.62 GW of clean power and standalone BESS capacity

Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has signed multiple power purchase agreements (PPA) with private developers covering a combined 5,620 MW of renewable energy and battery energy storage system capacity. The agreements include a land use agreement and a power purchase agreement for the 900 MW Ras Shukeir wind energy project, which is being developed by a consortium comprising Orascom Construction, Engie and Aleos, represented by Shukeir Wind Power Company.
