Kyrgyzstan’s parliament has approved the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)’s loan for the construction of a 500 kV overhead transmission line between the Kemin substation and a new substation located 6.4 km outside Balykchy city in the Issyk-Kul region.
The project will be implemented by National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan. The project is backed by total financing of EUR67.7 million, including an EBRD loan of EUR 61.7 million, a grant of EUR 3 million and EUR 3 million allocated for technical assistance. The loan will have a tenure of 20 years including a five-year grace period.
