Egypt’s Ministry of Finance has allocated about EGP 104 billion to the electricity sector in the 2026-27 budget for grid infrastructure development and wider energy sector improvements. The allocation, up 39 per cent year on year, will be used mainly for strengthening electricity transmission and distribution networks to support reliable power supply, renewable energy integration and efficiency improvement measures. The budget also includes support for the Dabaa nuclear power plant and other initiatives aimed at augmenting generation and grid capacity.
