Welspun New Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Limited for a 200 MW solar power project integrated with a 400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).
The capacity was secured through a SECI auction at a tariff of Rs 2.86 per kWh. This is the company’s first storage linked PPA, and takes its total contracted portfolio to about 1.6 GWp. The project can be developed anywhere in India with connectivity to the inter-state transmission system, in line with the tender provisions.
