Namibia and Angola sign USD58 million deal for 400 kV interconnector

Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower), Namibia’s state-owned utility, and Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade, Angola’s national transmission company, have signed an agreement to develop the Angola Namibia Power Interconnector Project.

The project involves the construction of a 166-km, 400 kV cross-border transmission line between the Kunene substation in Namibia and the Cahama substation in Angola. In addition, a separate 270-km transmission line will be developed within Namibia to strengthen grid connectivity and support the interconnector.
