SPML Infra Limited has secured a contract worth Rs 11.28 billion from NTPC Limited to develop a 1 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at NTPC’s Barauni Thermal Power Station in Bihar.
The project involves setting up a 250 MW/1,000 MWh BESS comprising 5 MWh DC containers with battery management system and thermal management system, 33 kV panel boards, 220 kV DC and AC cables, 220 kV switchyard and all associated accessories. The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, civil works, erection and commissioning. The project will be executed over an 18-months period, followed by 15 years of operation and maintenance.
