State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), China’s state-owned electric utility company, has secured approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for the 1,000 kV Sichuan–Chongqing ultra-high-voltage alternating current (UHVAC) enhancement project, with a total investment of CNY15.46 billion.
The project, spanning Sichuan province and Chongqing municipality, includes the construction of new 1,000 kV substations at Chuanbei in Mianyang city, Sichuan province, and Fuling in Changshou district, Chongqing municipality, each equipped with two 3,000 MVA main transformers, along with the expansion of the existing 1,000 kV Tongliang substation in Chongqing through the addition of two outgoing line bays and one set of high voltage reactors.
