The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has advised central, state and private utilities to use ester oil as insulating and cooling fluid in at least 10 per cent of new transformers, reactors and other electrical equipment of 33 kV and above.
The advisory recommends a mix of 5 per cent natural ester oil and 5 per cent synthetic ester oil, wherever technically feasible. The CEA has urged utilities to implement the advisory at the earliest in view of the ongoing West Asia crisis.
