The Ministry of Power has notified the implementation of decriminalisation provisions under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, with effect from June 1, 2026.
The Act provides for decriminalisation of certain provisions under the Electricity Act, 2003 and the Damodar Valley Corporation Act, 1948, along with rationalisation of the penalty framework.
The move aims to improve ease of doing business and promote trust-based governance.
