Oil India and PTRC Canada partner on CCUS, geothermal and clean energy

Oil India Limited (OIL) and the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC), Canada, have signed a collaboration framework covering carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), geothermal energy and clean energy technologies.

The partnership also includes collaborative research with mc2+, a start-up platform established under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Under the framework, the two organisations will work on the utilisation of captured carbon dioxide through geological sequestration and mineralisation, development of innovative enhanced oil recovery methods, and identification of geothermal projects of mutual interest. They will also undertake joint research through PTRC’s Energy Innovation Hub on subsurface energy production and storage. In addition, the framework envisages leveraging the partners’ networks to identify business opportunities in India and Canada.
