Suzlon has launched its S175 wind turbine platform with a rated capacity of 5 MW. The platform was launched by the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy.
The S175 has been built using operational insights from Suzlon’s existing 15.5 GW turbine fleet and is intended to improve energy generation and project economics in low- to medium-wind sites. It is also India’s first firm and dispatchable renewable energy-ready turbine platform, with advanced aerodynamics, carbon girder blade technology and intelligent control systems that enable participation in hybrid, round-the-clock and firm power solutions. The platform features a 175-metre rotor and a 160-metre hybrid lattice tower, with a blade tip height of 247.5 metres, making it the tallest wind turbine in India.
