The Ministry of Power has notified a draft National Electricity Data Sharing Framework aimed to have structured, standardized, secure, and accessible dataset of electricity sector to facilitate planning, operations, regulation, and research in the industry.
The proposed framework recognizes representation of datasets that are created and maintained by all the entities of power sector value chain to support non-discriminatory access to data while protecting critical information infrastructure. The framework also proposes National Electricity Data Centre (NEDC) and the National Electricity Data Portal (NEDP) to create an effective platform for data sharing and discovery.
Besides, the draft national electricity data sharing framework highlights formation of an institutional mechanism, provisions for inter-sector data sharing and third-party data sharing among others.
