China’s largest state-owned transmission company, SGCC, has completed the tower erection phase of the 1,000 kV Aba–Chengdu East ultra-high voltage alternating current (UHVAC) transmission project in Sichuan province, marking the project’s transition to conductor stringing. The final transmission tower – L045 – was erected on June 22, 2026, in Li county, under Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture.
The 734.8-km 1,000 kV UHVAC transmission line extends from the 1,000 kV Aba substation to the 1,000 kV Chengdu East UHV substation, traversing Li, Wenchuan and Maoxian counties in Aba prefecture, as well as prefecture-level cities like Mianyang, Deyang and Ziyang.
