SGCC, China’s largest state-owned transmission company, has commenced construction of the 750 kV Changbei transmission and transformation project in Xinjiang, to strengthen grid infrastructure supporting a multi-GW renewable energy base in Gurbantünggüt Desert.
The project is designed to facilitate the integration of around 20 GW of planned photovoltaic (PV) capacity in northern Changji.
