Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has completed drilling of the GT#02 and GT#03 geothermal wells at the Puga geothermal project in Ladakh.
The completion of the two wells marks a key step towards the development of India’s first demonstration-scale geothermal power project at Puga. The project is expected to support the deployment of clean, reliable and round-the-clock power in Ladakh. It is being implemented jointly by ONGC Energy Centre, the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Leh under a five-year collaboration that was renewed in June 2026
