Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), in consortium with Hitachi Energy, has signed an ultra-mega framework cooperation agreement (FCA) valued at over Rs 150 billion with TenneT under its 2 GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore transmission programme. The agreement covers six projects in principle, along with future opportunities, and is aimed at supporting the integration of offshore renewable energy into the power grid.
Under the framework, the consortium will continue execution of the IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1 projects in the Netherlands, while commencing work on the Nederwiek 3 project in the Netherlands and the LanWin 5 project in Germany. Together, these projects represent a cumulative transmission capacity of 8 GW at 525 kV. L&T will execute the offshore converter platforms and associated infrastructure, while Hitachi Energy will supply its HVDC Light technology for power conversion and transmission. The projects will facilitate the transfer of renewable energy generated in the Dutch and German sectors of the North Sea to the onshore power grids.
