The Kyrgyz Republic’s Ministry of Energy, during a briefing in Bishkek on July 21, 2026, announced plans to construct a 500 kV substation in the city as part of efforts to strengthen the capital’s electricity transmission network and power supply.
According to the ministry, Bishkek is currently supplied through a ring network comprising substations and transmission lines connecting the Frunzenskaya substation in Chaldovar, the Kara-Balta and Glavnaya substations, the Bishkek combined heat and power plant (CHP), and the Parkovaya and Ala-Archa substations, before returning to the Frunzenskaya substation. The project will be financed through
USD300 million allocated from the country president’s fund.
