Nepal’s state-owned transmission company, National Transmission Grid Company Limited (NTGC), also known as Rastriya Prasaran Grid Company Limited, has initiated the statutory approval process for the construction of the 400 kV Bajhang–Banlek (West Seti) transmission line, which is designed to evacuate up to 2,500 MW of electricity. The proposed line will extend about 60 km from the Chainpur substation in Bajhang district to Banlek in Shikhar municipality-10, Doti district. NTGC has submitted an application to the Department of Electricity Development (DoED) seeking approval for the project. Under Clause (4) of the Electricity Act, 2049, the DoED is required to issue approval for the construction of the transmission line.
