National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNPPT), a state-owned enterprise and subsidiary of Vietnam Electricity, has received in-principle approval from the Nghe An provincial authorities for the upgrade of the 220 kV Hung Dong–Nghi Son transmission line from a S/C to a D/C system. The project has an estimated investment of VND1.683 trillion and will be implemented by Power Transmission Company No. 1 (PTC1), which has been appointed by EVNNPT to manage the project on behalf of the investor. The project involves upgrading the existing 91.95 km, 220 kV S/C line, including 87.51 km in Nghe An province and 4.44 km in Thanh Hoa province, by constructing a new 220 kV D/C line within the existing RoW. It also includes the installation of additional switchgear at the 220 kV Hung Dong substation and equipment upgrades and replacements at the 220 kV Nghi Son substation.
