BNC Power Projects Limited has secured two turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts worth over Rs 2.8 billion from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL). The contracts entail modernisation and strengthening of Maharashtra’s extra high voltage (EHV) transmission network through the conversion of existing air-insulated substations (AIS) into gas-insulated substations (GIS).
The scope of work under the LoAs includes conversion of the existing 220/100 kV AIS bays to GIS bays at the 220/100 kV Kandalgaon substation under the EHV project-cum-operation and maintenance (PC O&M) Zone, Vashi. This contract is valued at approximately Rs 1.09 billion. Additionally, the work involves elimination of the existing 100/22 kV Vasai substation, establishment of new 220 kV GIS and 100 kV GIS at Vasai, along with supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 22 kV GIS bays at the 220/22 kV Nalasopara substation under the EHV PC O&M Zone, Vashi. This contract is valued at approximately Rs 1.71 billion. Both projects are scheduled to be completed within 15 months from the dates of the LoAs. The projects are expected to improve the operational efficiency of MSETCL’s transmission network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Konkan region.
