Hitachi Energy invests USD300 million to expand transformer manufacturing in China

Hitachi Energy, a global electrification company, is investing USD300 million in China to expand its power transformer and component manufacturing capacity in Hefei Anhui province, and strengthen the resilience of the global transformer supply chain.

The investment includes the establishment of a power transformer factory, a new ultrahigh voltage bushing facility, and the launch of a digital production line for tap changers. The investment will increase manufacturing capacity for power transformers and components at the company’s facilities in Hefei, East China, helping address growing demand for transformers and ease supply chain constraints. The expansion will leverage China’s manufacturing, innovation and talent capabilities to support demand for mission critical grid equipment.
