CrossBoundary Energy begins operations of BESS project for Kamoa Copper in DRC

CrossBoundary Energy, a renewable energy company for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in Africa, has commenced operations of a 233 MWp solar photo voltaic project and 123 MVA/526 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) facility supplying baseload power to Kamoa Copper South Africa’s (S.A.) mining operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The facility reached commercial operation on August 12, 2026, and will supply 30 MW of baseload power to the Kamoa-Kakula mining complex. Kamoa Copper S.A., a JV between Ivanhoe Mines, Zijin Mining Group, and the DRC government, signed a PPA with CrossBoundary Energy for the project in April 2025.
