LS Cable & System (South Korea) secures KRW 124.3 billion cable supply contract

South Korea-based LS Cable & System has won a KRW 124.3 billion cable supply contract for the first land-based HVDC power grid system in Seoul in South Korea. The ±500 kV HVDC link will connect a power converter station at Dangjin with the converter station at Pyeongtaek, 35 km north of Dangjin. The HVDC power system supplies electricity to end-users by converting the alternating current (AC) power generated at power plants to DC power, and then back to AC power.
