Pakistan’s vertically integrated electric energy corporation K-Electric has received approval from its board of directors for the development of a 900 MW (2×450 MW) combined cycle power plant (CCPP) at the Bin Qasim Power Station Complex (BQPS-III). The first unit is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2018, while the second unit will be commissioned by end-2019. A review petition has been filed by K Electric with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority challenging the multi-year tariff (MYT) determination of 2017. The result of the petition in favour of the company is critical for financing and development of the project.
