Karnataka government to purchase 1,000MW of power from private players

The Karnataka government is planning to purchase 1,000 MW of power from private players in order to meet the expected demand of 10,000 MW in the state. The state has been suffering from poor monsoon and has been able to mobilise only about 8,500 MW of power from its own stations and its share in central generating stations.
