US based First Solar will supply 860,000 high-performance thin-film modules for a 100 MW alternating current (AC) solar project being developed by Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Uretim AS in Pakistan. The project is part of the Quaid-e-Azam solar park in Punjab province and is expected to be commissioned by June 2018. The plant has a power purchase agreement with Pakistan’s central purchasing agency and once operational, it will generate 180 MUs of electricity annually, which is equivalent to supplying power to almost 140,000 homes. On completion, the plant will increase Zorlu Enerji’s installed capacity to 156.4 MW.
