CERC allows BSES discoms to exit PPAs agreements with NTPC Dadri

The Central Electricity Regulatory Authority has allowed discoms BSES Yamuna Power and BSES Rajdhani Power to exit power purchase agreements (PPAs) with NTPC Dadri-I power plant.

The CERC issued the order on July 1, 2021, to support the BSES discoms to exit from the costly power plants so as to optimise their power purchase costs. It would also help the discoms to meet their renewable power purchase obligations (RPO) as mandated by the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission under which they are required to purchase a given proportion of electricity from renewable sources. The allocated share of power from NTPC Dadri-I to BSES Yamuna Power and BSES Rajdhani Power was 62 MW and 560 MW respectively before exit from the PPA upon completion of 25 years of the plant (on November 30, 2020) from its commercial date of operation.
