MHI to takeover Mitsubishi Power’s operations

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited (MHI) will be taking over the business operations and employees of Mitsubishi Power Limited from October 1, 2021.

The merger is as per an absorption-type split agreement which was announced May 10, 2021. The business operations and employees of Mitsubishi Power which are involved in the design, manufacture, sale, installation, and engineering of thermal power generation systems will be transferred to MHI and integrated with it. Mitsubishi Power’s Takasago Works in Takasago City, Hyogo and Nagasaki Works in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki under Mitsubishi Power will be integrated, respectively, into MHI’s Takasago Machinery Works and Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works located in the same areas. Mitsubishi Power’s Hitachi Works in Hitachi City, Ibaraki and Kure Works in Kure City, Hiroshima will become MHI’s Hitachi Works and Kure Works. The brand name of Mitsubishi Power however will continue to be used for overseas markets and Mitsubishi Power will continue to exist as a corporation within Japan, and function as the presiding company and contract agent for the core Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
