NTPC issues a request of proposal for 3,000 MWh of energy storage

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has issued a request for proposals from developers to build interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected energy storage systems with a capacity of 3,000 MWh and a minimum capacity of 500 MW anywhere in India.

NTPC REL aims to use the energy storage installations to meet its round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy requirement with a wind-solar profile under the service model. The bid submission deadline is March 11, 2022. According to the reports, NTPC REL will enter into an annual fixed charge basis energy storage service agreement with the selected bidders for a period of 25 years, based on the terms and circumstances of the request for selection. The projects will be constructed on a build, own, and operate basis.
