In November 2022, India’s power consumption increased to 112.81 billion units (BUs), marking a double-digit growth of 13.6 per cent as compared to the year-ago period.
In November 2021, power consumption was recorded at 99.32 BUs. The peak power demand met increased to 186.89 GW in November 2022, as compared to 166.10 GW in November 2021. The growth in power consumption has been due to the increase in economic activities. A further increase in power consumption and demand is expected in the coming months owing to the use of heating appliances in the northern India and the beginning of the new rabi crop season.
