Government of Indonesia seeks investors to build nuclear power plant

The Government of Indonesia is seeking investors to finance the construction of a proposed nuclear power plant.

The facility, expected to come online in 2039, will be key in shifting away from coal-fired power plants as well as to achieve net zero emissions. The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency of Indonesia (BAPETEN) is currently working on drafting regulations on the nuclear infrastructure safety, preparing the location for the plant and formulating the trial operation.
