Power generation grew at a compound annual growth rate of 6 per cent to reach 1,618 BUs in 2022-23 from 962 BUs in 2013-14. Thermal generation accounted for 74.5 per cent of the total generation in 2022-23, while renewables accounted for 12.6 per cent, hydro for 10 per cent and nuclear for 2.8 per cent.
The national plant load factor (PLF) of thermal power stations registered an increase from 58.8 per cent in 2021-22 to 64.15 per cent in 2022-23.
