Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has acquired two project special purpose vehicles (SPVs), namely Ramgarh II Transmission Limited and Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited.
This acquisition comes as part of the transmission system projects designed for power evacuation from the renewable energy zone in Rajasthan, specifically targeting 20 GW under Phase-III, Part C1, and Part H. Powergrid competed with various private sector players and emerged as the successful bidder in the tariff-based competitive bidding process. Ramgarh II Transmission Limited is tasked with implementing a transmission system that includes a new 765/400 kV sub-station at Ramgarh, along with a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) at Ramgarh, a 765kV D/C transmission line, and associated bay extension works at the existing sub-station (Bhadla-III) in Rajasthan. The commissioning timeline for the sub-station and transmission line is set at 18 months, while the STATCOM is expected to be commissioned within 24 months. The project aims to facilitate the evacuation of 2.9 GW of renewable energy from the Ramgarh complex, enabling onward dispersal to various beneficiaries on the inter-state transmission system (ISTS) network. Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited involves the establishment of a new 765/400 kV sub-station at a suitable location near Dausa, along with 400 kV and 765 kV D/C transmission lines traversing Rajasthan and associated bay extension works. This ISTS project is slated to be commissioned in 18 months. The project’s objective is to facilitate the evacuation of 9.1 GW of renewable energy from the Fatehgarh complex through Fatehgarh-3 PS and Beawar S/S, enabling onward dispersal of power to various beneficiaries on the ISTS network. Overall, these two projects combined will contribute to the evacuation of 12 GW of solar power through transmission lines in the state of Rajasthan.
