Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has acquired Khavda V-A Power Transmission Limited, a special purpose vehicle, to implement the “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Potential Renewable Energy Zones in Khavda Area of Gujarat under Phase-V (8 GW): Part A” on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
This acquisition was completed under a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL). The project involves setting up ±800 kV high volatage direct current (HVDC) terminal stations with a capacity of 6000 MW at KPS2 (Gujarat) and Nagpur (Maharashtra). It also includes a ±800 kV HVDC KPS2-Nagpur bipole line of approximately 1,200 km, traversing Gujarat and Maharashtra, and a line-in-line-out connection for the Wardha-Raipur 765 kV double-circuit line at Nagpur.
