SgurrEnergy to develop Sri Lanka’s first 100 MW solar-plus-storage project

SgurrEnergy has secured a contract to lead Sri Lanka’s first 100 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project integrated with a 12 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The project aims to support Sri Lanka’s target of sourcing 70 per cent of its electricity from renewables by 2030. The project will be executed in multiple phases, including advanced PV and BESS modelling, hydrological assessments, preparation of detailed RfPs, vendor evaluations, and engineering design. Optional services include quality assurance and component inspection. The project will feature advanced technologies such as bi-facial or mono PERC modules, string inverters, and tracking systems, and is expected to set a benchmark for future solar-plus-storage deployments in the South Asian region.
