Indonesia has announced plans to add 10 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2040 as part of a broader clean energy expansion aimed at achieving carbon neutrality before 2050.. The nation plans to add a total of 103 GW of new power capacity by 2040, comprising 75 GW from renewable sources such as solar, wind, geothermal and biomass; 10 GW from nuclear energy; and 18 GW from gas-based generation. Contracts for nuclear projects are expected to be finalised within the next five years, given the long lead times required for such developments.
