The Rockefeller Foundation, under its coal to clean credit initiative (CCCI), is scaling efforts to support clean energy transitions in communities near coal-fired power plants across developing countries. During Ecosperity week in Singapore, ACEN Corporation announced a collaboration with GenZero, Keppel, Mitsubishi Corporation, and its subsidiary Diamond Generating Asia, to launch the first CCCI pilot project in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Verra, the nonprofit certifying verified carbon units has approved a new methodology under the CCCI framework, marking a global first for transition credits aimed at enabling coal-to-clean energy shifts. According to a new analysis by the Foundation, supporting 60 such plant transitions by 2030 could mobilise USD110 billion in public and private investment.
