Syria to import electricity from Turkey through 400 kV transmission line

Syria is set to import electricity from Turkey via a new 400 kV transmission line linking Reyhanli to Harim in the Idlib countryside.

The cross-border line will transmit up to 80 MW of electricity to northern Syria through a substation located on the Turkish side. Additionally, a natural gas pipeline between Kilis in Türkiye and Aleppo in Syria is expected to deliver 6 million cubic metres of gas per day to support domestic power generation and improve energy availability. Turkish companies have been encouraged to invest across Syria’s energy sector, covering upstream and downstream oil and gas activities, infrastructure rehabilitation, and power system development.
