Delhi government approves state subsidy under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

Reportedly, the Delhi government has approved an additional subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt (kW) for residential rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

With this, consumers in the national capital installing a 3 kW rooftop solar system will be eligible for a total subsidy of up to Rs 108,000 – comprising Rs 78,000 from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Rs 30,000 from the Delhi government. The scheme was approved by the Delhi cabinet as part of the state’s efforts to accelerate solar adoption and reduce electricity costs for residents. The subsidy announcement follows the allocation of Rs 500 million in the state budget for rooftop solar promotion. The government also plans to collaborate with financial institutions to provide affordable financing options for households to ease the upfront investment burden.
